FAQs

What is the Squad structure?

Squads are made up of 6-12 Valor Warriors. They are led by a Squad Sergeant and also have a Youth Sergeant who helps. Dad Sergeants are also encouraged to participate. Each leader has been thoroughly vetted and passed a criminal background check.

How old do you have to be?

Your son must be turning 9 the year he joins. Squad age groups are ideally 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16. If a local squad is at the early stages, it may include any age between 9-16.

How long does the DecaStar program take to complete?

Short answer is that it can be completed within a year, but within a 2 year period is the average. The Squad Sergeant must sign off on all the requirements, but he can verify with if parents a requirement was done at home. He keeps regular communication, and paces each Valor Warrior to earn the DecaStar.

When and where are training sessions held?

Training sessions are held on a weekly basis, typically after 4pm. They last an hour and 15 minutes. Squad Sergeant determines this with the parents. The location alternates and depends, but typically occurs at a park with a pavilion or rotating parent host homes.
